TVP launches FTA platform on ASTRA
The public Polish television Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) launched a free-to-air platform on ASTRA on 15th September 2009. TVP has therefore extended its satellite capacity contracts for the use of two transponders at ASTRA’s main orbital position 19.2 degrees East. TVP has been using this capacity since 2005. TVP is the largest public TV broadcaster in Central and Eastern Europe. ››
Amazonas 2 satellite is integrated for launch
Ariane 5’s payload fairing is hoisted into position for installation over Amazonas 2 in the satellite staging area of the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building. Final payload integration is underway for Arianespace’s fifth Ariane 5 mission of 2009, with the Amazonas 2 telecommunications satellite now encapsulated in its payload fairing. ››
Animal Planet HD in CYFRA+
On 16th of September 2009, subscribers of the satellite platform CYFRA+ have gained an access to Animal Planet HD. Until 11th of November channel can be viewed by all subscribers of the platform with has at least one HD option activated. This is the ninth high-definition channel available in CYFRA+, other ones include: CANAL+ Film HD, CANAL+ Sport HD, National Geographic Channel HD, HBO HD, Filmbox HD, MTVNHD, Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2 HD. ››
100,000 DTV subscribers in Multimedia Polska

Multimedia Polska, operator that offers digital and analogue cable television as well as Internet and fixed telephony has 100,000 subscribers of digital TV. That's more than 40% in comparison the the end of 2008. All subscribers use digital television HD decoders. In one year company added nearly 40 new DTV channels. Currently, digital television viewers can watch 99 channels and 11 in High Definition.
An important element, which encourages subscribers to use DTV Multimedia Polska is a wide choice of 17 packages, such as: Sport, Film, Kids, Adult, HD, Canal+ HD or HBO HD. Last week of December 2009 was a record one for VOD in Multimedia Polska, company doubled the number of orders in comparison with previous year. Movie library has more than 1000 titles.
Company also introduced the first Polish interactive channel aMazing. When subscribers press "aMazing" button on the remote control they can participate in contests, answer questions on the screen and win prizes. The range of DTV is now 650,000 households.
