The public Polish television Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) launched a free-to-air platform on ASTRA on 15th September 2009. TVP has therefore extended its satellite capacity contracts for the use of two transponders at ASTRA’s main orbital position 19.2 degrees East. TVP has been using this capacity since 2005. TVP is the largest public TV broadcaster in Central and Eastern Europe. ››
Ariane 5’s payload fairing is hoisted into position for installation over Amazonas 2 in the satellite staging area of the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building. On 16th of September 2009, subscribers of the satellite platform CYFRA+ have gained an access to Animal Planet HD. Until 11th of November channel can be viewed by all subscribers of the platform with has at least one HD option activated. This is the ninth high-definition channel available in CYFRA+, other ones include: CANAL+ Film HD, CANAL+ Sport HD, National Geographic Channel HD, HBO HD, Filmbox HD, MTVNHD, Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2 HD. ››
Nagravision, a Kudelski Group company and the world's leading independent provider of value-added content protection solutions, announced a strategic license agreement with Intel Corporation involving Nagravision On-Chip Security (NOCS) technology and IntelŽ CE media processors.
Enabling Nagravision’s state-of-the-art NOCS technology on Intel CE media processors allows Intel’s CE industrial customers to design hybrid and IPTV set-top boxes (STB) and secure digital video home products for service operators using NAGRA Media ACCESS technology to secure content on their pay TV networks. This effort will open up large potential markets for Intel’s CE customers, while allowing Nagravision’s service operator customers to select groundbreaking products incorporating Intel’s line of Intel CE media processors.
The enabling and technology licensing relationship between the companies gives Intel customers access to a market of more than 100 million homes on 5 continents using NAGRA Media ACCESS conditional access systems (CAS) to secure premium TV content, HD and On-Demand content.
Enabling NOCS technology on Intel CE media processors is ongoing. Nagravision certified Intel CE media processors are expected to be available to Nagravision licensees during the first half of 2010.
