The public Polish television Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) launched a free-to-air platform on ASTRA on 15th September 2009. TVP has therefore extended its satellite capacity contracts for the use of two transponders at ASTRA’s main orbital position 19.2 degrees East. TVP has been using this capacity since 2005. TVP is the largest public TV broadcaster in Central and Eastern Europe. ››
Ariane 5’s payload fairing is hoisted into position for installation over Amazonas 2 in the satellite staging area of the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building. Final payload integration is underway for Arianespace’s fifth Ariane 5 mission of 2009, with the Amazonas 2 telecommunications satellite now encapsulated in its payload fairing. ››
On 16th of September 2009, subscribers of the satellite platform CYFRA+ have gained an access to Animal Planet HD. Until 11th of November channel can be viewed by all subscribers of the platform with has at least one HD option activated. This is the ninth high-definition channel available in CYFRA+, other ones include: CANAL+ Film HD, CANAL+ Sport HD, National Geographic Channel HD, HBO HD, Filmbox HD, MTVNHD, Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2 HD. ››

Before the end of 2009 music channel Rebel TV will appear on the Polish market. It will be distributed by PrOgram company. Rebel TV is a station for older audience than MTV and will be available on satellite platforms and in cable networks. Head of Universal Networks, Roma Kahnna, announced the launch of 3 Universal channels in Poland in 2010. Independent websites suggest such Universal Networks stations as: Diva Universal, 13th Street Universal and Studio Universal. TV Puls increased its audience by 83% in October 2009 in comparison to the same period last year. TV Puls shares in the market jumped to a level of 1.41% from 0.77% in October 2008. It is a great news for TV Puls that is fighting for the advertising market with Polsat, TVN and TVP. more ››
Since October 2009, Zonemedia Poland has officially changed its name to Chello Central Europe. This change is a consequence of recent changes in ownership of the Chellomedia holding. From April 2009 Zonemedia Poland (now Chello Central Europe) is subordinated to Chello Central Europe based in Budapest. more ››
On 3rd of October TVN Turbo presented a new logo, there are also changes of the on-screen graphic of this channel. Station's new schedule includes entertainment and popular science programmes. New graphic has been prepared by TVN Group. TVN Turbo began broadcasting in December 2003 and finished its first year on fifth place among thematic channels. more ››
In response to a change in Discovery Historia ownership and the acquisition of shares by Discovery Networks Central Europe in May 2009 from 1st of October 2009 Discovery Networks Central Europe has decided to refresh the image of Discovery Historia, including new logo and line-up change. more ››
TVP INFO line-up for autumn 2009 does not include transmissions from Polish parliament, only short reports from the most important events will appear. TVP's Piotr Farfal informed us in SAT Kurier interview that there are plans to launch a parliamentary channel, TVP Parlament, by the end of 2009 or in early 2010. more ››
Crime & Investigation Network, produced by AETN International, will appear in Polish version this September. Country manager of Chello Central Europe in Poland, Marek Cybulski, informed us about it. The new station will be available on digital platforms and in cable networks but we do not know yet in which ones. more ››
According to the unofficial information, a new channel produced by HBO, Cinemax HD, will appear in Poland before the end of 2009. This station was launched in early September of 2008 in the United States and may soon be a part of Polish satellite platforms and cable networks. HBO refuses to comment on the matter. more ››
