The public Polish television Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) launched a free-to-air platform on ASTRA on 15th September 2009. TVP has therefore extended its satellite capacity contracts for the use of two transponders at ASTRA’s main orbital position 19.2 degrees East. TVP has been using this capacity since 2005. TVP is the largest public TV broadcaster in Central and Eastern Europe. ››
Ariane 5’s payload fairing is hoisted into position for installation over Amazonas 2 in the satellite staging area of the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building. Final payload integration is underway for Arianespace’s fifth Ariane 5 mission of 2009, with the Amazonas 2 telecommunications satellite now encapsulated in its payload fairing. ››
On 16th of September 2009, subscribers of the satellite platform CYFRA+ have gained an access to Animal Planet HD. Until 11th of November channel can be viewed by all subscribers of the platform with has at least one HD option activated. This is the ninth high-definition channel available in CYFRA+, other ones include: CANAL+ Film HD, CANAL+ Sport HD, National Geographic Channel HD, HBO HD, Filmbox HD, MTVNHD, Eurosport HD and Eurosport 2 HD. ››
On 21st of December 2009 a meeting will take place about the first DVB-T multiplex and its reservation for Polish Television (TVP) as well as about relocating such channels as Polsat, TVN, TV Puls and TV4 to second DVB-T multiplex. The BBC and Arqiva have announced that the agreement to upgrade the relevant parts of the UK digital terrestrial television (DTT) transmission network to DVB-T2 has been confirmed. The new DVB-T2 technology will deliver an increase in capacity of 67% to the BBC’s Multiplex B, efficiently creating the space needed for UK public service broadcasters' HD transmissions. more ››
Multilingual news channel euronews is the only international news channel available on the first DTT platform in Latvia - Lattelecom, launched in August 2009. euronews is offered in the economic and basic packages and is available in four languages: English, French, German and Russian on channel 11. On 28 August 2009, Antenna Hungária started the free-to-air test of euronews on the MinDig TV digital terrestrial television service available in SD format. It is broadcast in the Budapest region on channel 62, in the Kabhegy region on channel 61, and in the Szentes region on channel 65. With the addition of the new programme, the free-to-air offer of the MinDig TV service comprises seven TV programmes and three radio programmes. more ››

National Broadcasting Council has expanded concessions of nationwide broadcasters to the possibility of a digital terrestrial broadcasting in the first multiplex. This means that the first multiplex will include Polsat, TVN, TV4 and TV Puls and three TVP channels. more ››
TV Puls plans to immediately apply for a reservation of the frequency in first DVB-T multiplex. Presence of TV Puls in DVB-T will increase channel's availability to 100% of the country. Station wants to launch two thematical channels in the second multiplex. more ››
People who live in Warsaw and the surrounding area have now DVB-T access to the first local ITI Group channel - TVN Warszawa. Transmission is a part of experimental POT (Polish Television Operator) DVB-T signal in MPEG-2 on channel 55 (746 MHz), 1.3 kW of power from the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw.
